The Department of Radiation Oncology encourages and supports research by its resident staff. Research electives may be taken during the resident's second (PG3), third (PG4) or fourth (PG5) year. Approval of the Department Chair is required. Refer to the departmental faculty listing for specific faculty research interests. In addition, out-of-department research projects in cancer-related disciplines may be available.
Annual Research Project
Residents are required to undertake a research project each year. This project will be presented at the annual Resident Day. A manuscript, suitable for submission to a peer-reviewed journal, is required prior to completion of the training program. This research will be done in collaboration with a faculty member, and could consist of a retrospective review, case report, or a project in physics or radiobiology.
